BOY SCOUT TROOP 363
New Salem United Methodist Church is the charter organization for Boy Scout Troop 363 (Grades 6-12) A most active group meeting year round, they enjoy; summer camp at Camp Bud Schiele, earning merit badges, whitewater rafting, canoeing, Scout Sunday, Fall and Spring Camporee’s, various trips and outings, and camping. Troop service projects include helping with projects at New Salem UMC.

CUB SCOUT PACK 363
New Salem is also home to the Pack (Grades 1-5), founded in February 1980 by New Salem UMC. New Salem has seen countless boys join Cub Scouting and go on to Boy Scouts. Cub Scouts is a family oriented program organized into five individual age groups called dens. As a Cub progresses down the Cub Scout trail, he will have the opportunity to participate in many activities such as Fall Roundup, Father & Son Cake Bake, Popcorn Sales fundraiser, Scouting for Food, the Statesville Christmas Parade, Blue & Gold Banquet, Scout Sunday, Winter Place ski trip, Pinewood Derby, Scout Show, Cub Scout Olympics, Sponsor service project, overnight camping trips, and Graduation/Crossover. Summer opportunities include Cub Scout Day Camp at Fort Dobbs and Cub Scout Resident Camp at Camp Bud Schiele.
Individual dens meet at various times during the month. All dens and families meet on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00PM for the Pack Meeting in the fellowship hall.
